With this we advise anyone aspiring to begin Hanbali Usul to finish al-Waraqat (the Tahqiq of Sh. Mutlaq al-Jasir with his Hanbali footnotes). Here is the link to his Sharh which you can complete in only 5 sittings:
After this one should revise al-Waraqat a few times and make sure he has understood every issue on a basic level. Find a scholar or a well-grounded student and get your questions answered.
After this we would highly recommend that one moves onto Sh. ‘Amir Bahjat’s poem on Hanbali Usul know as “al-Nadhm al-Saghir Min Mukhtasar al-Tahrir”. This poem is based on al-Futuhi’s (r) brilliant textbook on Hanbali Usul known as Mukhtasar al-Tahrir (one of the main books of Usul for the later-day Hanbalis). This poem is very precise and very well adjusted as an Usuli text for beginner Hanbalis. The poem has been checked by 50 scholars and experts and some even directly took part in constructing it. It is also highly recommended that students memorise this poem.
